Pancake was the sweetest yet sassiest girl I’ve ever had the pleasure of having in my life. There’s a huge misunderstanding that birds aren’t as loving and affectionate as other animals, or that they don’t have big, distinguished personalities, but that is the most untrue statement I’ve ever experienced. Owning doves changed my life for the better and gave me something to live for. Their gentle yet curious nature captivated me. I’ll miss the music of her sweet coos and playful attack pecks when I changed her food or touched her toys. She was one of the best birds ever. Pancake, I remember when I first brought you home and how nervous you were. I remember giving you lots of time to adjust to your new surroundings. I’m so happy you ended up loving me as much as I loved you. You always brought me comfort, and I hope that I was able to do the same for you. I hope you’re flying free now and making new friends with all the other birds who have passed on. I love you so much, baby girl. Rest easy.
